Dental Bridges
at Smile Spot Mawson Lakes

Dental bridges are prosthetic devices used to replace one or more missing teeth by literally bridging the gap left behind. They consist of one or more artificial teeth, known as pontics, which are securely anchored in place using dental crowns on the neighbouring natural teeth or implants.

At Smile Spot Mawson Lakes, we offer custom-made dental bridges designed to restore both the function and appearance of your smile. Our experienced dental team will ensure your bridge fits comfortably, blends naturally with your existing teeth, and allows you to eat, speak, and smile with confidence.

Contact Smile Spot Mawson Lakes on 08 8258 0650 to book a consultation and discover how dental bridges can enhance your oral health and restore your smile.

How Do Dental Bridges Work?

Getting a dental bridge usually involves two appointments. During the first visit, the teeth on either side of the gap—known as abutment teeth—are prepared by carefully reshaping them. This allows space for crowns that will support the bridge. Impressions are then taken to create an accurate mould for your custom-made bridge.

Once the bridge has been crafted, typically within a couple of weeks, you’ll return for the second appointment. The complete bridge—consisting of the artificial tooth or teeth and the supporting crowns—is checked for fit and comfort, then permanently cemented in place over the abutment teeth. This ensures a secure, natural-looking restoration that restores both function and appearance.

Want to learn more about dental bridges?

You might need a dental bridge for several reasons:

  • To Restore Your Smile: Replacing missing teeth can enhance your appearance and boost your confidence.
  • To Improve Chewing and Speaking: Missing teeth can make it difficult to chew food properly and may affect your speech. A bridge can restore these functions.
  • To Maintain Facial Structure: Missing teeth can lead to bone loss and changes in facial shape. A bridge helps maintain the natural contours of your face.
  • To Prevent Teeth from Shifting: Gaps left by missing teeth can cause the surrounding teeth to shift out of position, leading to bite problems and misalignment. A bridge helps maintain proper tooth alignment.
  • To Distribute Bite Forces: Replacing missing teeth with a bridge ensures that the forces of your bite are evenly distributed across your teeth, preventing excessive wear and damage.
